Representing Conceptual Graphs in Algernon: Working Note 9
نویسنده
چکیده
“Conceptual Graphs” have become a popular representational formalism in AI research. They were introduced by Sowa in his 1984 book “Conceptual Structures” [Sowa, 1984], as a modern treatment of ideas from the 19th century philosopher Peirce. Conceptual graphs are also the fundamental representational unit in KM/KQL [Clark, 1996], the language of the Botany KB project. In KM, these units are referred to as ‘frames’; Each frame encodes a CG along with addition information, in the form of access paths, about how to infer values of particular nodes (see Section 3.2). This working note describes now conceptual graphs can be mapped onto the representation language Algernon [Crawford and Kuipers, 1991, Crawford, 1990]. Section 3 describes one way in which CGs can be encoded in Algernon, where a set of rules encodes the various implications which a CG contains. Section 4 discusses this and alternative ways that CGs could be encoded with Algernon, and their relative merits and weaknesses.

Managing Large Databases of Complex Medical Knowledge Using Conceptual Graphs
A number of groups around the world are independently working on natural language interfaces (some multilingual) to sources of information such as progress notes, patient discharge summaries, radiology reports, digestive surgery discharge summaries, bone scintigraphy, slit lamp examination of the eye, and echocardiography. Each of these groups is using Conceptual Graphs as their universal medic...
متن کاملSemantics of Conceptual Graphs
Conceptual graphs are both a language for representing knowledge and patterns for constructing models. They form models in the AI sense of structures that approximate some actual or possible system in the real world. They also form models in the logical sense of structures for which some set of axioms are true. When combined with recent developments in nonstandard logic and semantics, conceptua...
متن کاملDatabase Inference – Conceptual Graphs Using Conceptual Graphs To Represent Database Inference Security Analysis
This paper describes an approach to database inference analysis based on conceptual graphs. The database inference problem is briefly described. Previous approaches are summarized, followed by a presentation of our inference model, called AERIE. The notions of an inference target class and an inference method class are introduced with examples given. Conceptual graphs are introduced as our mean...
متن کاملDifference Graphs
In the conceptual structures community, much effort and attention has been focused on determining areas of commonality between two or more conceptual graphs. Less attention has been paid to another aspect of comparison, namely, what is different between two or more graphs. This paper explores a technique called difference graphs for determining and representing the differences between two graph...
متن کاملA NOTE ON THE COMMUTING GRAPHS OF A CONJUGACY CLASS IN SYMMETRIC GROUPS
The commuting graph of a group is a graph with vertexes set of a subset of a group and two element are adjacent if they commute. The aim of this paper is to obtain the automorphism group of the commuting graph of a conjugacy class in the symmetric groups. The clique number, coloring number, independent number, and diameter of these graphs are also computed.
